Packing up your life and moving to a whole new country to study? That’s a bold move (legendary, even). And when you're making such a huge decision, you don’t just want flashy brochures and polished sales pitches from education advisors. You want the real story.

And where could you find the real story? We believe it’s by going straight to the source: our students! One of the ways we do this is by regularly taking student feedback – the good, the challenging, and everything in between. We gathered valuable perspectives from Bayswater London students last week, asking them about their decision-making process, what surprised them, and what they wish they’d known before hopping on that flight.

So, grab a cup of tea (as we spill ours), and let’s dive into the unfiltered experiences of students making their London dreams a reality.

Flexibility matters

Flexibility is key at Bayswater, especially because we understand international students and their unique journey - many of our students juggle part-time jobs, freelance work, or family commitments, often across different time zones. That’s why we offer shorter programmes that fit around busy schedules, maintain strong partnerships with study abroad institutions, and ensure that prospective students can access real, honest experiences before making their decision. Because when you're taking a leap this big, having the right support makes all the difference.

"I needed something that fit into my existing plans," said Wonjee Kim from South Korea, who found Bayswater’s shorter programme durations perfect. "Time is precious, especially when you're trying to build a career."

We heard directly from students that the programme's adaptability was a major draw. They valued the flexibility to tailor their experience, from thoughtfully curated class schedules to the seamless integration of English language modules.

Social proof matters…even more!

When it comes to choosing where to study abroad, students are doing their homework. They're not just taking someone's word for it. Marina told us, 'I relied on a study abroad institution. They were the closest thing to experiencing Bayswater from afar.' But they're also looking for proof from other students. Paula, for example, said, 'I checked the Google reviews. Seeing so many positive experiences made me feel confident about applying.'

When it comes to registering for  Bayswater’s programmes, we strongly recommend that you not just take our word for it. For international micro-credentials, in particular, due diligence is key. Dive into reviews, engage with alumni, and ask detailed questions to ensure your confidence. We're proud to have built the kind of trust over the years where peer reviews and alumni testimonials reflect the genuine student experience, but we're continuing this good work by constantly listening, adapting, and striving to improve the student journey."

More than just a name: A curriculum that delivers

Paula also pointed out something crucial: the importance of a relevant, up-to-date curriculum. "I liked that the courses were modern and covered real industry trends," she said. "It felt like I was learning skills I could actually use."

For Maya Matsumoto from Japan, the programme name (and modules) sealed the deal. "Luxury Brand Management just clicked for me," she admitted. "It aligned perfectly with my career goals." Students come to Bayswater with big ambitions, and the right curriculum can make all the difference.

Courses are designed with real-world skills in mind, ensuring that students stay ahead in their industries while preparing for global careers. This year, we also launched the Global Skills Certificate , an additional certificate that will be awarded to all students. The certificate ensures international students are job-ready through AI and digital literacy skills, intercultural competence, and professional communication etiquette, essentials for navigating today’s evolving job market.

The challenges no one tells you about

But let’s be real—it’s not all smooth sailing.

"The cost of living in London was a bit of a shock," confessed Katherine Viracacha Naranjo from Colombia. "You have to be prepared." And then there’s the language barrier. "Understanding spoken English was tough at first," said Andrea Combi from Italy. "But you get used to it. The great thing about Bayswater is that you can improve your English alongside your main programme, like Digital Marketing or International Business Management."

At Bayswater, alongside their main courses, students also have the opportunity to improve their English through tailored support, whether through extra classes or informal practice with fellow students. This allows them to build confidence not only in their studies but also in everyday life.

Ready to make the move?

We are immensely grateful to Maya, Marina, Paula, Andrea, Wonjee, Katherine, Jinhyun, Natalia, Cira, and Mariami for the generous sharing of their experiences. If you're drawn to the idea of studying abroad, we encourage you to embark on your own exploration. Research thoroughly, seek diverse perspectives, and create a future that reflects your unique ambitions.
